NYC Supreme Courthouse View to the front of the New York City Supreme Courthouse with the quote "the true administration of justice is the firmest pillar" is attributed to George Washington and is often used to emphasize the importance of a fair and impartial legal system for a well-functioning government. It is thought to be a line from a letter he wrote to Attorney General Edmund Randolph in 1789. The quote is often inscribed on buildings, such as the New York State Supreme Courthouse.

This image shows a detailed view of the facade of the New York County Supreme Court (also known as the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department, or often just the NYC Supreme Courthouse).

The photograph captures the upper portion of a grand, neoclassical building, dominated by a large triangular pediment supported by a series of fluted Corinthian columns. The pediment features elaborate sculptural relief work, depicting figures and scenes. Along the frieze, directly below the pediment, an inscription is carved into the stone that reads: "THE TRUE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IS THE FIRMEST PILLAR OF GOOD GOVERNMENT".

On the corners of the pediment and along the roofline, several classical statues of draped figures are visible, standing on pedestals. The building is constructed of light-colored stone, likely marble or limestone, giving it a majestic and imposing appearance. Above the main architectural features, parts of the building's upper stories with dark-framed windows are visible against a dramatic sky with scattered clouds. The angle of the shot emphasizes the scale and intricate detailing of the architecture.
